bijoux!

Although more recently I've been straying away from wearing jewelry with my outfits, I have always been an accessories devotee. I gravitate toward rings and necklaces more than anything else. They sell for such high prices these days, so making my own has been gratifying for both my wallet and my taste. My eye is for simple pieces, but I try to stay true to the boho in me.

back to the heart of worship

I was wholly rejuvenated yesterday after church service at Hillsong LA. The warm welcoming, unashamed expression of love for our God, freeing worship, and a passionately challenging message brought me back to that place of simple surrender and restful peace with Jesus that I had been struggling to return to for a while. My heart and mind connect the most intensely with worship. Music is what I have the greatest response to and it makes me most sensitive to the heart of Jesus.

Hillsong's latest worship album is on repeat in my apartment. Love songs of adoration.

"Jesus is crazy about you. He is madly in love with you." That's all I needed to hear

newness!

I'm back!

Quite a bit has happened in the last few months. I quit my job in the hopes of finally leaving the nest and getting out of all that I was too used to. After a testing couple of months, everything panned out. I'm now living out on my own in a new city and beginning a new job as a behavior specialist at an elementary school. While waiting for the LAUSD schools to start, I've had a lot of time on my hands, which has allowed me to settle into my apartment, explore the city, and bask in the beauty of independence. Here are a few snippets of what has been going on in my new home sweet home of los angeles. :)

weekend wear

happy march! wasn't the rain awesome this weekend?! we really needed it. thankfully, it cleared up a bit today so i could squeeze in shots for this post.
i love the bejeweled pocket on this military-style jacket. it gives it a touch of feminine fun. boyfriend jeans? i would wear them everyday. i rarely wear heels or any shoe that gives me some height, but these platforms with a clear base are so comfy and fun.

i mentioned a few posts ago that redecorating my bedroom is up there on my to-do list this year. this tapestry is going to be one of the first items i'm going to purchase. its light, woven material and to-die-for elephant print are going to be just right for either my bed or wall. can.not.wait.

weekend wear

hi all! i've decided to start a weekly post called weekend wear. it's pretty much what it sounds like. i'll be sharing what i wear on the weekend! i don't have the luxury of wearing my outfits of choice to work during the week, so i get so excited when the weekends come around so that i can experiment with my clothes, shoes, and accessories however i like! with spring around the corner, i'm most likely going to be moving away from the jeans and pants and more towards the skirts and dresses. i have so much fun playing around with fashion and i'm enlivened to involve you all in it. here's to the first one!

a friend gifted me a holga 135 when i graduated from college a few years back. i've played around with it a couple of times, but definitely haven't allowed it to be used to its full potential. i think it's time that i do because i've been finding myself eyeing it a lot lately. hopefully soon i'll be posting pictures taken with this gem

current obsession: the braid

i've been loving the braid these days. it's just something that will always be around...more preferred by some than others, but it ranks high up there for me. a soft, loose braid accompanied by an updo (on the messy side) is the definition of pretty. it'll feminize any outfit. i don't doubt it'll be my look of choice for the spring and summer. (wish i had more hair for that thicker braid though)...

challenge for myself: master the fishtail and crown braids

flea market shoppin'

i love thrifting...digging for that jewel amongst piles of everything you could imagine. this past weekend, i went to the rose bowl flea market in pasadena, which is held once a month. it's like a glorified version of the familiar fullerton farmer's market. i also almost felt like i was walking into the oc fair. all in all, i had a blast seeing all different kinds of vendors and people. of course, i was most engaged by the clothes and accessories. i was really on the search for some fun pieces for my bedroom too, but i unfortunately couldn't find anything that gave me that giddy feeling. a delectable hot dog and some dippin' dots were the perfect purchases for my tummy. oh, they also had live insects. it was pretty much the only booth that intrigued the boyf, so now i have a bunch of insect pictures on my phone. oh well. i left the market with a few great steals and a little bigger heart and mind.

           until next time…

i love saturdays

the weekends are the perfect opportunities to step out of fullerton for a moment. lately, costa mesa has been one of my favorite cities to spend the day in. the weather was pleasantly right today to enjoy the simple things in life, like good food and sweet stores.
